About

Marianne and Zorro, a yellow labrador, are sitting on a well kept lawn in a garden. Zorro is wearing a guide dog harness and looking at the camera with an alert expression.
Let’s go!!

I am currently a Masters of Research student in Modern History at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. I intend to write my thesis on devotion to the Virgin Mary in the Middle Ages, Marian miracle tales, and how they interacted with each other. I will use William of Malmesbury’s Miracles of the Blessed Virgin Mary as my main Marian miracle tale collection. I am broadly interested in medieval Christianity, particularly Marian devotion, and its relationship with society. I am also interested in the theology that underpinned medieval Christianity and Marian devotion.

Due to my vision impairment, I am involved in activities that relate to blindness more generally. I am involved with groups that advocate for the importance of Braille in everyday life, whether this be in educational settings, or more broadly. I also believe that the internet should be accessible to all, especially when Digital Humanities projects are involved.

When I am not researching, I enjoy spending time with my guide dog Zorro, and riding horses.
